Everyman Marathon Grand Slam

5 UP 5 DOWN.......WIN WIN!!!!

Wow....where has the time gone? It seems like only weeks ago that Heather and I decided to once again, embark on yet another mission to raise the awareness of the two causes closest to us.

Now closing out 2011, we look back at the last year as a success beyond our wildest imaginations. From a double marathon separated only by a trans-atlantic flight to the remaining 3 marathons only weeks apart, this journey has been one we will never forget! We were able to reach thousands of people through media events (iRun Magazine, iRun-TheRadio Show, wEspn) and through social media with our message and our fundraising efforts.

We were able to raise just over $13,500 for our charities and outfit dozens of supporters in Everyman gear. Visors to shirts, the Everyman Grand Slam gear will be running the roads of mother earth for some time. We still have a Youth Sized Argon 18 Road Bike from our “Trade Up” efforts and we will be auctioning it off in the spring, so keep your eyes peeled!

A huge thank you to all of our supporters: corporate-friends-acquaintances-strangers. Thank you for taking this journey with us and keep on supporting the causes YOU are passionate about no matter what they are!!!

Brian and Heather

Closing in on the finish line.....

As you all know, the New York City Marathon in a few weeks is the 5th of the FIVE WORLD MAJORS we are participating in this year.  The Everyman Marathon Grand Slam will wrap up after this race, having raised over $13,000 for both Brain Injury Awareness and Testicular Cancer.  During this final stretch, we have $3,500 more to raise!  So here is a list of how YOU can help us reach this goal.  We are big fans of giving YOU something for YOUR donation...so here is what we have!

-Trade it Up....right now, trade what YOU have for a “like new” youth sized Argon 18 racing bike, perfect for that youngster wanting to break into Tri’s or cycling!!! What do YOU have to trade for this item?  We hope, once we get to a “value” a bit higher than today, to auction the item off and send the proceeds to our charities!!! Contact us....you KNOW you have something!!!!!

-Tech T-Shirts.....As seen on our blog, wear one of our Official shirts that will be seen at ALL 5 majors! Of course, you get a new, unused one!  We have medium and Large....and are asking a minimum donation of $ 40 .

-Cotton T-Shirts....see above but in cotton.  We have small, large and XL......and are asking a minimum donation of $25 .

-Headsweats Custom Visors!  Yes, we have custom embroidered Headsweat visors in a royal blue with the Everyman logo on the front.  They are great to run in and talk about comfortable!  We are asking for a minimum donation of $35.

We know there are a ton of charities looking for support so we appreciate ANY help we receive.   If you would like to just donate with a simple click, you can always do it here: http://run.livestrong.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=436387&supid=331768370

Drop us an email at:  brian@nutsaboutcancer.com for ANY orders!!!!!

We have a TRADE!!!!! Item #3 is gone, here comes #4!

Well, this one was a tough one, but after a week and a bit, LAUREL JOHNSON has run away with the three items listed.

In turn, Laurel has kindly traded a sweet ride that would be perfect for the young one in your life.  She traded her son’s “previously enjoyed” ARGON 18 racing bike that would be a perfect fit for a newby to the sport of cycling/triathlon in the age range of 8-12 yrs old.  Sporting brand new tires and tubes, this bike is SWEET condition!  It’s only blemish is a tear on the seat, other than that= PERFECT!

Think of next spring...think of getting a new bike purchase out of the way and not picking through whatever is left at the local bike shop.....GET IT NOW!  Please email us at   brian(at)nutsaboutcancer(dot)com  for any and all trades!!!!

Thank you LAUREL for your continued support of us....seems like ages since that first swim up at Meech eh?

Ok....here we go!  First item up to trade:

So I have this Visor, brand new, with tags from Headsweats .  It is simply one of the best visors money can buy.  Headsweats technology surpasses any running/tri company out there on fit, functionality and quality.  This one has the Everyman Marathon Grand Slam logo embroidered on it!  One size fits all.  You can NOT buy this visor in any store AND it is a limited edition!  Value alone for the visor is $25.00

Everymantradeup_001

Well, that's it.....we are trading it in!!!!

Trading it in for something bigger and better than what we have now!

Do you have something taking up space at your house?

Did you win a door prize this summer at the company golf tournament you will never use?

Did your wedding gifts include two toasters you will never use?

Have one of those outdated 3gig iPods that are, well let’s face it....un-cool?

Trying to sell something you can’t seem to get rid of?

Have you never wanted to help out a charity BUT money was tight?

Now is your chance to get rid of those things you just can’t seem to get rid of.  The one question you MUST ask yourself....IS IT WORTH IT?

In order to raise funds for the EMGS, we are having our own version of the Red Paperclip Trade.  You remember the guy who traded a red paperclip for a house?  Ok, so the house was in Saskatchewan, but you get the idea!

By no means do we expect a house, but we KNOW that our friends, sponsors and supporters all have stuff they no longer want but may want something we have in return!

So, the plan is to start the EMGS Trade Up on September 1st, 2011.  Each day at 8am-ish I will post the item on our Facebook page, Twitter and here on the Blog.  If you have something, of any value that you feel is greater, email us at brian(at)nutsaboutcancer(dot)com with a description or even better, a photo of the item for use to decide which one we will trade it for.  Later in the day, we will decide which one is getting the trade!!!!  Get it?

Start thinking.....the item we will start off with is valued at about $25.  You could be part of a very FUN fundraiser AND get something for it!  Our hope is that the item we have on September 30th is an item we can sell or auction off, with all proceeds going to our EMGS charity!

Big News for race #5 in New York City!

WE ARE BACK!!! Training is back in full swing with race #3 less than 9 weeks away in Berlin, Germany.....we can't WAIT!

All that aside though, take a quick peek at our big announcement for race #5 in NYC!

Hey all!  When the Everyman Marathon Grand Slam started, we were raising funds for 2 charities and awareness for the masses affected by Testicular Cancer and Acquired Brain Injuries.   Reaching as many people as we possibly can is of great importance to us.  So, we have upped our game for race #5, the grand finale in New York City.

Everyman Marathon Grand Slam will be partnering with the Livestrong Organization as a member of Team Livestrong NYC.

We have jumped at an opportunity presented to us that will send funds to an organization that helps those afflicted with Cancer around the world and will also provide a much LARGER platform in which we can share our message.

Ahhhhh.....rest!

What a weekend! We are back in Ottawa and back to the reality of work, pets and .....REST!  We had a quick interview with Mark Sutcliffe for the iRUN Running Show that will air Saturday, April 23rd.  Thank you Mark for taking the time to have us in to the studio for a chat.

For now, we will post some pics of the trip until we get a chance to write a detailed version for you of the adventure.  For now we will say race 1&2 of the Everyman Marathon Grand Slam was a huge success.  Thank you all for following along.

Cheers...B&H
